A Pretty Girl, Not Genuine At All

This story takes place in December 2008, so around the time the third HSM came out. Anyways, I was shopping at a Home Goods in LA one evening and noticed a young girl, dressed in expensive-looking clothes, shopping around with this HUGE guy following her. Immediately I sensed that this girl must be a celebrity, and I ended up being correct: it was Vanessa Hudgens. Now let me get something straight: I have never really been a fan of Vanessa Hudgens. I didn't hate her or anything, but I just thought she was that pretty girl from HSM and that was all. However, when I walked up to her to get an autograph, I was super polite and kind. I complimented her on the third HSM film, since I had just seen it the other day, and apologized for interrupting her shopping time. She was definitely polite- she smiled back, said thank you, signed the paper I had handed her, and that was it. Also, she is EXTREMELY pretty in person. Wow. Anyways, I was pretty happy with the encounter, and thought that she was nice enough. Her kindness didn';t seem to be genuine, but who was I to judge someone I had barely met? I left Home Goods and headed to my next destination, Macy's (located across the street). Imagine my surprise when I hop off the escalator to the third floor of Macy's, only to see Vanessa Hudgens AND Zac Efron shopping for bedsheets right in front of me! I couldn't believe my luck. After freaking out a little, I collected myself and walked up to them, excusing myself for interrupting their shopping trip and saying how much I would appreciate a photo and an autograph, if they didn't mind. What happened next is why I rated Vanessa Hudgens as "Mean." First of all, when she saw me a look of surprise crossed over her face, followed by annoyance. Her posture and facial expression was completely different from what she had been like at Home Goods fifteen minutes ago, and she probably thought that I followed her there or something, which is completely understandable, but also totally untrue. I still can't believe my luck in seeing two huge teen celebrities in a span of thirty minutes, but that's purely what it was: luck. So I was really put off by her body language, to begin with. Secondly, I was sort of a blubbering mess around Zac Efron. He is AMAZING on the eyes- the silver screen does not do his face justice- and he was extremely kind and considerate as well (sidenote: I have a review under his name on this website regarding this same story, if anyone's interested). And, since I was stuttering and so nervous around him, Vanessa started laughing, but not in the nice way. My mom was right beside me during the whole experience, and she too says she couldn't believe how rude Vanessa was being. She had her hand over her mouth and was poorly trying to conceal her snickering over how nervous I was, and it was terrible of her to do so. Besides smirking and laughing at my trembling state, she completely ignored me, showing absolutely no interest in talking to me or even acknowledging me. It was then that I realized that the Vanessa I had encountered at Home Goods was a complete facade. So, yeah. Hugely disappointed by her, even though this experience certainly doesn't make me a hater- that s too strong of a word. I'm definitely curious to read about other encounters fans have had with her, and what she was like then.
