I've met a couple Nobel Laureates. The day Ei-ichi Negeshi won the Nobel Prize, I was getting coffee and making small talk with him early in the morning. My phone vibrated and I checked my email, only to see I had just gotten one informing us that he won the Nobel Prize. I was literally talking to him at the time.
Another time, Rod MacKinnon gave a lecture and I went to the reception afterward, which incredibly, hardly anyone went to. I ended up talking to him for awhile, and witnessed a hilarious exchange where another professor basically told a Nobel Laureate that his work was a bunch of shit. He shrugged it off and just kept talking to me. It was awesome.
