Apparently his mother made all of those sweaters. I bet they were stitched with love and kindness ❤️ RIP Mr. Rogers 😥
He was an ordained minister, as well. One of the sweetest things I think he did in my lifetime was coming out of retirement right after the events of Sept.11 to try and soothe children's fears. From all the stories I've read from people who had the honor of knowing him, the man you saw on t.v. was indeed the man he was offscreen,as well. I read a story about something that he did that made me smile. I say it as an anicdote, but from what I've read of him from authorized sources, it seems the kind of thing he would do. There was a blind girl whose cousin told her that there was a fish tank with fish in it on the set,and she was worried they were not being looked after properly,so he would say "I'm feeding the fish" to let her know that the fish were,in fact, being very well cared for. I was waiting for a session with my therapist a few days after he passed, and I read an article that stated that it seemed adults mourned him as much,if not more, than their children did! My mom's only complaint about his show from when I was little was that i wasn't afraid of going down the drain until he sang a song called "I won't go down the drain",lol.
