I took my wife to one of his concerts as she was always a fan but could never get to one of his concerts until we met and were married, back in 1996.
She had been a huge Lightfoot fan for 30 years.
We arrived at Massey Hall early, and not a soul around except for a few ushers at the front door, and Lightfoot walking around aimlessly.
My wife politely asked him for his autograph to which he declined and said, "if I give you my autograph, I'll have to give it to everyone else".
The only people there were my wife and I, and the asshole Lightfoot.
What a jerk. It wasn't until he almost croaked a few years later that he decided to be nicer, though once an asshole, always an asshole.
