One of the nicest ever. Has a semi-regular jazz show in LA, and he not only plays a lovely jazz piano, but also entertains the crowd with quizes, stories, invites them on stage, and wanders around the club chatting with people before AND after the show. Incredibly gracious. And during an intermission to give the band a break, he stands up front and lets everyone take pictures with him.
OH, I almost forgot. I had just gotten an old micro-cassette dictaphone (after watching Twin Peaks), and I was keeping an audio journal. While he was wandering around after, talking to various tables of fans and people out for the show, I was able to catch him and ask if he wouldn't mind saying something into my "audio journal". He ended up recording an outgoing message, which remains on my voicemail to this day.
