The Chief Export of Chuck Norris is Politeness

I went to a signing for his autobiography at a bookstore called Book-Ends in Ridgewood, NJ.

The line to see him was quite long, and was operating under as much of a time constraint as the store could enforce. We were all told ahead of time that he was only there to sign books, and that he would not be taking any pictures, a fact that we were reminded of every few minutes whether anyone asked or not.

Although I am usually one who adheres to a store's policy (it's understandable most times). Being that he had been a huge influence on me going into martial arts and was a personal hero of mine, when it was my turn to get my book signed, I nervously apologized for being a pain, and asked if I could have a picture with him if it wasn't too much trouble.

He said "Absolutely" without hesitation, but was cut off at the pass by a staff member who again reiterated the no-pictures policy.
Without missing a beat, he turned around and said in a standard Chuck Norris manner (which would be polite but stern), “I am taking this picture, and the same goes for anyone else who wants one.”

He was unbelievably warm and polite to everyone, and seemed genuinely happy to be there and meet his fans.

As I left to go to dinner, he continued taking pictures for anyone who asked, regardless of what the staff said to the customers.

In fact, as I left the restaurant across the street, I noticed that he was still able to be out of the store with time to spare within the store's allotted time table. Polite and efficient.
